Pinya
Pinya is a piece that is inspired by pre-colonial Filipino carved wooden figures of anitu (gods, spirits), pop vinyl figurines, and a cautionary Filipino folktale, Alamant ng Pinya (Legend of Pineapple) and represents that story, the girl who was turned into a pineapple so that she could have many eyes, and the common phrase repeated to Filipino children (and some adults), “Look with your eyes, not with your mouth!”
